James Krycer, PhD
In 2012 I completed a doctor of philosophy, where I trained in molecular cell biology (microplate assays and electrophoresing gels, DNA cloning and culturing cells).
Under Prof Andrew Brown's supervision at UNSW, I studied why lipids accrue in prostate tissue. We found that growth-promoting factors (in general) modulate transcriptional regulators of lipid levels. Interested in the interplay between signalling and metabolism, I joined the James lab to study insulin-driven catabolism. On the side (when I am not sleeping), I enjoy swimming and undergraduate teaching, as well as writing geeky little rhymes - read this aloud if you can spare the time.
